Redding -- Riveting, Honest, Hopeful : Amy C Roma has managed to paint a picture with compassion of not only what it is like to go through the asylum process, but WHY these women and children are seeking the safety of the United States. Amy also goes into detail of the frustration of our detention system, the separation of parents from children, and equates it beautifully with her own experience of motherhood. A perfect balance of empathy and sympathy. The author asks the obvious questions like "What would I do for my children if..." Her detailing of the legal process is direct and unencumbered. This is a perfect gift for those seeking not only an understanding of who crosses our borders and why, but how we can help the new asylum-seekers, on a basic level. It truly is a "Must Read" book. T -- Everyone should read this : Extremely well written and personal; anyone who’d like to form an opinion about the immigration crisis in America should take the time to read this first. Well deserving of the C&R Press Non-fiction Award. Amy, and others like her working pro bono, embody the heart of America and we are lucky to have them and so thankful for the work they do.
